Our journey across the states began with the never-ending process of packing our most prized possessions with the help of some extremely wonderful friends.
Then came renting a couple of "oxen" to pull said possessions across the plains after the certain traders who contracted to move our home turned out to be a couple of lousy crooks!
As we said our goodbyes, we discovered this adorable little stowaway in the wagon.
En route, we survived this infamous descent. Without dying.
Because our water was alkaline, we drank many liters of diet coke instead. It flowed freely from the gas station soda fountains...
We were even chased by these savage-looking electrical transformers.
As we entered Oregon we admired their agriculturally inspired energy-saving techniques: wind farms!
Parker gladly accepted his role as "hunter/gatherer" and hunted often to provide us with sufficient food. His Idaho heritage and innate Mangum hunting prowess allowed him to shoot more than 3,100 pounds of meat. Unfortunately we could only take 5 pounds with us...
We successfully forded this river without flooding the wagon.
We were very fortunate seeing as no one in our wagon train came down with cholera and the only thing that died was my cell phone. My only disappointment was that I never did see a mountain goat. I'm still on the look-out...
So far, Oregon has been the land of milk & honey that it was rumored to be! Except instead of milk & honey, it seems this place has an abundance of athletic gear...
(Actual Footage from our Living Room)
I'm embarrassed to admit that since this photo was taken we have added 13 additional pairs of athletic shoes and far too many clothing items.
